Welcome to Alan Reed Watercolours...
Northumberland Artist Full of Eastern Promise
A Northumberland artist is full of Eastern promise after signing up to UK Trade & Investment's "Passport to Export" initiative.
Alan Reed's original paintings and limited edition prints have been selling at exhibitions across the UK since 1981 and in 2000 he was one of a number of artists who took part in a group exhibition - New York After Dissention - in New York.
Since then he has returned to the USA and painted both Chicago and St Louis. Paintings of The Empire State building are now part of his collection.
Alan's wife Susan introduced him to Italy, where she had previously lived and he instantly fell in love with the Italian architecture and landscape. This inspired him to explore other overseas markets and he signed up to the Passport programme. Paintings of Italy are often added to his long list of original watercolours, where Venice and Tuscany are familiar scenes.
He enjoyed instant success, selling his original paintings and limited edition prints of Italy, which led to a solo exhibition last year in the Veneto region of Marostica, held in the Castello Vecchio. The exhibition was officially launched by the Assessore alla Culture di Maristica and was acclaimed both in the press and on local television.
One of UK Trade & Investment's International Trade Advisers, said:
"Alan really is a wonderful artist and his work has become widely represented in private collections around the world.
"Passport proved an ideal way for him to gain access to the support he needed to explore new markets as it offered a tailor-made package to suit his needs. And he has proved you don't have to be a big company, with lots of staff, to succeed overseas.
"With the right product and the right support anyone can win overseas sales and UK Trade & Investment can help you every step of the way."
